2020 Reflections

What a strange, strange world that we all now live in
When awakening in the morning is even more of a blessing
Daily bulletins of statistics including those no longer alive
Re-inforce the desire to fight to survive

Stress and anxiety felt like never before
What are you going to face when you walk through the door
For simple things like shopping at your local store
Experiencing newer challenges like never before

Took some time out this morning just to breathe in some fresh air
Always a nagging feeling in the back of my head of those deep in despair
Statistics paint a picture but can never tell the story
Politicians everywhere trying their best but will it end in glory

Daily countdown on self-isolating from the outside world
When venturing out social distancing from men, women, boys and girls
Facing an incubation period of up to fourteen days
Crossing off each twenty four hours, just hoping it doesn’t hit you before you’re released

Lots of negative press being transmitted from everywhere you look
Understand the need to keep a lid on things, a million miles away from you’ve never had it so good
What kind of world will be living in when in time this attack on us will be controlled
Will we be One World or revert back to each country for itself if truth be told

A different kind of army is at the front of our defence
No arms and ammo, instead gowns, masks and vents
Your country needs you has been used in the past
Our country needs to protect them to ensure we all last

Will it just be a moment in time from which we will all get over
Will we be basking in sunshine again thanks to a four leaf clover
Will we reflect in years to come, thinking what was all the fuss about
Or use this time to make sure the one chance we have is not washed out
