Back here visiting the best place on earth
What a view from the vessel soon to berth
Sun shining, blue sky, life’s in a good place
Will be with my oldest friend soon, will be great to see his face

Standing beside my friend, known for many a year
Smaller Isle in the background supplies leaving from the old pier
A beautiful calmness surrounds us, sun beating down on our heads
Taking in these precious moments as we’re all a long time dead

Modern technology is there of course but geographically looks the same
Several new commercial ventures set up, very aptly named
Driving around the island, views for miles galore
Just a wonderful place, richly steeped in Scottish folklore

A sleeping giant resting, can be seen from many a mile
Guarding all around him/her in typical warrior style
By taking various routes can get to touch the head
Followed by several refreshments and an early time to bed

Recalling memories from decades ago
People walking to and from dances, only way they could go
Took me back to a situation with early love interest in sight
Did the honourable thing, walked her home before disappearing into the night

Well one good deed deserves another
Walking back past the hall, band had finished and were running for cover
Got a lift in their van to my lodgings, saved a five mile walk
Good ending to the night, having a drink and a talk

Teenage memories that will always find a place in my heart
Subsequently, every time I visit, it’s such a wrench to depart
The people, air, hills and sea that make this place so special
Will always allow me to have good thoughts and lots of stories to tell
