A lot more than the recommended daily ten thousand steps
Forty plus years of working has been taken in your stride
Starting out at twenty one was a bit of a rocky ride
Released from your studies out into the big wide world
Thinking no more than the next day would be like a tornado’s swirl
Was just a boy when I wondered at the castle on the hill
Looking at the horizon feels a little that time’s stood still
Same sort of landscape although punctuated by cranes
City’s getting a makeover, guess the benefit of change
Like all things in life people come and go
Several of them gone early against the tidal flow
Lots of new faces here to fill their void
Lots of new ideas that they bring allowing us to rejoice
Have seen a lot of changes some good and bad
Twin towers flattened that made me feel so sad
Berlin wall flattened made me feel so good
Positives and negatives all around us dictating our mood
If you’re lucky to have good health and can still do the things you like
Taking part in several recreations and quite literally on your bike
Being able to see new wonders when circling around the globe
Stimulate the brain stimulate the body using the travelling mode
Still have friends and colleagues who keep you on your toes
Still have lots of family increasing as on our life goes
Bringing a new perspective and challenging the past
Helping build a future that with technology will surely last
Building a social calendar to encompass all your goals
Broadening your horizons to recapture what life’s stole
Including all your desires and restarting your musical career
A combination of coaching and self-teaching around what you constantly hear
And thankfully through the last decade – there is Adele
