Searching for life’s riches but what does it mean
Giro cheque in one hand or the jewels of the queen
Travelling to faraway places or staying close to home
Has many different meanings for those who are or are not alone

Childs smiling face or several lines of coke
The corralled beauty of the Seychelles to cities enveloped in smoke
Caviar eating oligarchs to children begging in the street
Cosmetic surgical manipulation to IED’s non surgically removing feet

Opportunities for travel providing food for thought
Some may find their riches for others they’re still sought
Different forms of language, people though still the same
The majority unassuming, a minority still seeking fame

Came across the south side, so full of grace and style
Not so much the north side but can still provide a smile
Beautiful people all around both inside and out
Providing southern hospitality, of that, there is no doubt

Intrepid explorers or just searching for life’s fun
Came across riches of sea, sand and swamp and even a little sun
Interesting wildlife some presenting danger
Could be viewed as riches but there’s no Tonto or the Lone Ranger

We’ve come a long way from two centuries ago
Although new discriminations are starting to grow
Nothing at all to do with the colour of one’s skin
But mainly down to finance and the life’s riches one could win

So as we move forward with no thoughts of the past
No point in reviewing history, life’s changing too fast
But could we take a step back, review life’s riches and what they can bring
Or just apply a set of blinkers, hit a button and let technology be king
