Why all these dark thoughts spinning through my head
Continually feeling I’m part of the living dead
Wanting to express happiness but barriers prevent
And leave me with a great deal of anger to vent

Drugs administered to remove the pain
May do physically but emotions still remain
Trying to come off them isn’t as easy as advised
Cold Turkey goes through you like needles in your eyes

Caught up in a feeling of looking out from within
Caught up in your own world, avoiding the din
You see things as normal but they don’t mean a thing
Any memory is erased, what to the table do you bring

Plenty of people around but you’re all alone
Frustrations arising within you, even though you know it’s wrong
You just want normality – get back to life as before
Go to bed each night, not wondering for the next day, what’s in store

Screams erupting inside of you, like a volcano in full flow
Find strength from somewhere deep, like a combustible inner glow
Adrenalin takes over as you become sleep deprived
Darkness at night overturned by a strong sunrise
