Just when I felt that I had seen and been to every place
Even had a slight bit of cockiness in reciting Amazing Grace
Until the 27th April 2018 made all the past disappear
When I took those first few steps on to Santa Monica pier

If dreams come true then I’ve had a few
Latest one on Santa Monica pier looking at the sea view
Pacific I’m told and it’s looking mighty fine
Listening to a Canadian girl called Steegs, life is divine

Arrived there via the beaches a combination of Venice and Muscle
Strolling along the boardwalks never saw any signs of trouble
Maybe had something to do with the official distribution of the leaf
So many happy people dancing in the streets

Just felt so relaxed and fitting into their way of life
Driving along the Pacific highway in awe of the sights
From the Getty mansion to Malibu pier
Then up the hills of Topanga Canyon to see friends Colin and Cecilia

Stayed in the beautiful area of Marina Del Ray
Wished I’d bumped into her sister Lana one day
In a really cool apartment block with “fragrant” odours emitting
Had a slice of cheesecake round the corner, couldn’t finish in one sitting

Had a meal in a local diner weirdly enough a variety of burger
Sat down with a beer and in the background was playing Down Under
As if magically transported from one world to another
What other wonderful sights were there to discover
