Imagination

Never quite imagined it would be like this
Several months in and still a feeling of bliss
Like opening your eyes for the first time and feeling your mothers kiss
Taking away any pain and clearing the mist

Had all kinds of pictures painted in my head
Covering bright blue horizons to the darkness of space instead
So far can honestly say it’s nowhere in between
Best view of positivity I’ve ever seen

Been released from this imprisonment, can do whatever I want
No need to ask permissions – can even sing a song
Freed from the shackles, creativity returned
Erased all previous complexities as if the past had been burned

Remembered those youthful train journeys of the past
Started off early – just wanted them to last
Crossing that river time and time again
Always, always felt like money well spent

Lots of time spent, crouching by a piano
Hey, even was allowed to provide some harmonies
Looked up in awe at those generations of people
Gave me feelings of exuberance, allowing me to climb the highest steeple

Now no imagination required as reality is here
Several decades later, a much different atmosphere
Younger generations have been assembled to carry on the task
Let’s hope their imagination and positivity will allow them to last
