When awakened there were three of them but the decade had changed
Sort of recognised the setting though it felt so pre-arranged
From Asian themed weddings where attendance was required
Trying unusual dances, completion of, was admired
A location inspired by a Lowry themed painting
Although no cloth caps or faces that were haunting
Although cobbled streets that people still walked on
A twentieth century era had obviously begun
The child wakens up, rubs their eyes and wonders
Who/what’s responsible for ending their slumbers
Another new day in the four year olds life
The majority of it filled with love with a little added spice
The blue eyed, blonde hair child with a smile that could melt butter
Growing up in a world full of inspiration and wonder
Although appearing to have a casual outlook to what was going on
Was taking it all in, being inspired, knowing what was right and wrong
Wandered through to the parents bedroom and climbed in beside them
Snuggled in between the mum and dad and felt the heat from them
A place of safety, so comfortable, so extended their arms and legs
Well, they’re the ones who created me was the excuse in the child’s head
The trio emerged from their protective surroundings
Un-wrapped the cotton wool to view what was in front of them
Took a step outside and dipped their toes into the sea of life
The feeling was one of confidence for this child, husband and wife
They had passed the first test, so moved on to the next one
Gained a diploma in life’s education that nobody could take from them
Awakened to the fact that much more was to come
The 4 year old had to break away from the apron string of their mum
So with enthusiasm they left for a different education
Filled more with books in new surroundings that were made for them
Inspired by the fact that this learning would provide the justification
Of that early awakening in that original location
